A major AEW name was rumored to leave the Jacksonville-based promotion. The 37-year-old star, RJ City, is one of the most valued members backstage. He is part of the creative team and is known for his contribution to the legendary gimmick of the 'Timeless' Toni Storm.

A few days ago, his YouTube show, Hey! (EW), aired its final episode. The edition had over 160 episodes. The unique show delved deeply into the lives of its guest wrestlers and engaged in awkward conversations with many of them. The final episode of the show featured Renee Paquette, Tony Khan, and Mercedes Mone, and also included a segment involving former guest Eddie Kingston. Many questioned the AEW writer's status with the company.

Now, a report from Fightful has surfaced, noting that RJ City still has a significant amount of time left on his contract, and he isn't going anywhere.

AEW name RJ City reveals why Hey! (EW) was canceled

Fans loved the 37-year-old writer's unceremonious interviews, whose production included only two mugs and the show's name.

While speaking on the final episode, RJ City revealed that Tony Khan closed the show when the AEW President found out he was paying for it. The writer also said they had reached the end of their guest list.

“Welcome to Hey! (EW). I am RJ City, and my guest is nobody, because this is the final episode. Why? Multiple reasons. One, once Tony Khan found out he was actually paying for the show and it was not a WBD college-credited internship like I initially claimed, he pulled the plug faster than you could say Rampage (...) We’ve come to the end of the guest list. We are down to the nos and the a**holes and many of them are both," he said.

It remains to be seen which project RJ City will undertake in the future.
