Salvador Perez knew the strike zone better than home plate umpire Doug Eddings.
The Kansas City Royals catcher proved that on Friday night against the Atlanta Braves.
Three times, Salvy challenged Eddings on a low pitch that was called a ball.
Three times, the ABS challenge system overturned it to call a strike.
Perez was dialed in. Eddings was not.

It was pointed out with some consistency earlier in Perez's career that he made things tough on home plate umpires. By being a taller, bigger catcher, it can make the view of some of those low in the zone pitches a bit tougher.
Perez probably knows that, too. He's had a whole career of seeing how it works. Now, he has a way to make up for it.
If Perez uses his challenges wisely, the Royals will benefit. And in the early going, this is an example of how a veteran catcher can really use his wisdom to his advantage.
Score one for Perez on this night.
