Rosie O’Donnell shared a lengthy poem after visiting her troubled daughter Chelsea O’Donnell in prison.

In an Instagram upload shared Saturday, the “A League of Their Own” star posed with Chelsea for an affectionate snapshot.

In the poem, O’Donnell, 64, recalled arriving early for the visit “In what looks like / A children’s nursery room / Disney murals on cement walls / Vending machines.” O’Donnell then related being “told to sit” in a red chair at Table 8.

“The guard explained the rules,” O’Donnell continued, adding, “A hug hello and goodbye only /
No money exchanged / Hands above the table / No loud voices.”

When Chelsea arrived in her green inmate uniform, the former talk show host recalled, her heart “skip[ped] a beat.” She noted in the poem that her daughter looked “good,” and “healthy calm” with “rested blue eyes” and “clear skin.”

“We have been through so much,” O’Donnell wrote, lamenting that Chelsea’s four children — “3 girls and a boy” — had “not visited” her behind bars.

The comedienne recalled shedding tears during the visit. “It’s hard enough for her / She turns 29 this summer / And all I see when I look at her/ Is a blonde baby in diapers,” she added.

“The View” alum then recalled the visit being cut short due to a tornado, returning to her hotel through the storm and sleeping “for hours.”

“Proud of us both,” she concluded the poem of her 28-year-old daughter. “Unconditional love / Simply the only way / Thru motherhood / Love and forgiveness a must / Even when it seems impossible / Especially then / We live we learn we grow / Even at 64.”

Followers in the comments thread expressed their support for Rosie and Chelsea, with one person writing, “What a beautiful piece. I feel like I can picture it perfectly. Every person in that room is someone’s baby. I’m proud of Chelsea and you. 🫶🏻🫶🏻”

Rosie also broke down the visit — which she noted her daughter requested — in a Substack post on Friday entitled “Before and After.”

In February 2025, Chelsea appeared in court over felony bail jumping, resisting or obstructing an officer, and possession of methamphetamine and child neglect.

She was subsequently sentenced to six years of probation and warned of prison time in the event that she violated probation requirements — which included possession of a controlled substance.

Her probation was revoked and she was sentenced to jail in October.

In February, TMZ reported that a State of Wisconsin Department of Corrections report revealed that Chelsea had been accused of alleged assault after touching a man’s genitals without permission — a claim she denied to authorities, per the outlet.

The alleged encounter was included in the report, which explained why her probation was revoked.

Chelsea and Rosie’s affectionate visit underscores a previously troubled relationship — in January 2025, Chelsea filed papers requesting to have her name changed to her birth mother Deanna Micoley’s maiden name.

The move came after Rosie — who relocated from the United States to Ireland last year — reportedly cut her daughter from her $80 million will amid her ongoing problems with the law.
