It was a celebration fit for a New York Italian matriarch, who kept celebrities, media personalities, politicians, and business leaders’ bellies filled with oversized meatballs for decades.
On Wednesday, “Good Day New York” anchor Rosanna Scotto, her sister, Elana, and brother John, hosted a celebration of life for their beloved mother, Marion Scotto, who passed away at 90 last month. The siblings were joined by their familia and influential New Yorkers at their family restaurant, Fresco by Scotto.
Hoda Kotb, Lorraine Bracco, Baruch Shemtov, John Castamitadis, Emily Compagno, Donna Ruttino, Dennis Basso, Steve Guttenberg, Jill Martin, former Gov. David Paterson, Bo Dietl, Sunny Anderson, all came out to pay their respects to the Scotto mamma and, of course, “food was everywhere” an insider told Page Six.
“The family made sure guests were constantly fed, including with Marion’s famous meatballs — a fitting tribute to a woman who built her life around feeding and taking care of others,” they added.
A 15-foot photograph of Marion eating a cannoli watched over guests as they feasted on Scotto dishes and servers passed hors d’oeuvres. A source described the mood as “joyful, with family and friends sharing stories.”
Scotto’s Fox 5 colleagues, Mike Woods, Christal Young, Dan Bowens, Ines Rosales, Ryan Kristafer, Audrey Puente, and Robert Moses. Fox bosses Lew Leone and Joe Dorrego were also there to celebrate their favorite “Good Day New York” guest, Marion.
“It was exactly the kind of party Marion would have wanted: plenty of food, a packed house and more toasts than tears,” a source said.
