Rory McIlroy's history at Quail Hollow points to obvious PGA Championship prediction

Rory McIlroy is going to feel right at home this week.

That's not because Quail Hollow Golf Course, in Charlotte, N.C., is anywhere near McIlroy's Northern Ireland roots. Instead, it's his history at the course that bears noting.

McIlroy has made 13 tournament starts at Quail Hollow. In 10 of those, he finished top-20, with nine of those actually being top-10.

The Masters champion has actually won four times at Quail Hollow as part of the Wells Fargo Championship (2010, 2015, 2021, 2024).

According to the PGA, McIlroy has a 69.48 scoring average at Quail Hollow, the best on tour.

One of McIlroy's worst performances at Quail Hollow came at the 2017 PGA Championship, when he placed 22nd.

McIlroy enters the tournament as the second-best betting favorite behind just Scottie Scheffler on most gambling sites.

He's carrying the momentum of his Masters victory, a roller coaster of a weekend that included four double-bogeys for the tournament, an epic collapse to fall into a playoff with Justin Rose and then a clutch playoff hole to earn the green jacket.

Quail Hollow shouldn't be quite as tough as Augusta National, but it has some challenging stretches, as well.

McIlroy will clearly be well familiar with the proceedings at the course, and he's certainly there to win it.

We'll see if history at the course can repeat itself.
