Former Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns has been away from television since he and his team lost the Men's WarGames match against Team Vision at the Survivor Series 2025 Premium Live Event.

The Original Tribal Chief has been advertised for the Royal Rumble 2026, which indicates that he might return to the Stamford-based promotion soon. In a shocking twist, upon his return, the OTC could revamp The Shield faction with two of his biggest rivals, Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins, and go after The Vision, their common foes, and build a WrestleMania-worthy storyline.

Currently, Rhodes is set to conclude his feud with Drew McIntyre on SmackDown with one final bout, while Rollins is on the road to recovery from his shoulder injury. The Visionary could yet again shock the world by returning early from injury, and The American Nightmare could join the party, reforming The Shield in the most surprising way.

That said, the angle proposed above is speculative, and nothing has been officially confirmed as of now.

During the build-up to the Survivor Series: WarGames 2025, in a segment on Monday Night RAW, the Original Tribal Chief made it clear that he wanted to have gold around his waist one more time. Thus, he officially entered the title picture for the first time since losing his title at WrestleMania 40 to Cody Rhodes.

The leader of the OG Bloodline could return at Royal Rumble 2026 and enter as a participant in the traditional men's Royal Rumble match. He could even shock the world by winning the bout and punching his ticket to The Showcase of the Immortals.

It will be interesting to see what plans the Triple H-led WWE creative team has in store for the Original Tribal Chief when the 40-year-old megastar returns on TV.
