Rockets sign 3 veteran free agents all at once after Kevin Durant trade

The Houston Rockets are certainly having an active final week of June.

After trading for Kevin Durant, they signed three pending free agents to contracts on Friday.

ESPN's Shams Charania reported that the Rockets intend to bring back Aaron Holiday, Jae'Sean Tate and Jeff Green on new deals rather than letting them hit the open market.

None of the trio will start for a healthy Rockets team, but they provide continuity to a group that was the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference in 2024-25.

Green is the veteran of the bunch. He'll turn 39 in August. He was the No. 5 pick way back in 2007. Green won a championship with the Thunder and is entering his 18th NBA season.

Holiday is the brother of Jrue and Justin, fellow NBA players, and is entering his eighth NBA season. It'll be his third year in Houston.

Tate has spent his entire NBA career with the Rockets after being undrafted out of Ohio State. This will be his sixth NBA campaign, and he has averaged 8.3 points per game for Houston overall.

The Rockets may not be done. Rumors emerged Friday that second-year wing Cam Whitmore is being floated in trade discussions.

But at least Houston knows that its bench will have some familiar faces in the form of this veteran trio.
