The biggest conversation of the 2025-26 NBA trade deadline has involved Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo after it was announced that he's ready to move on to another team.

Antetokounmpo, 31, has received plenty of interest from a large list of teams throughout the league. At the very top has been the Miami Heat.

So would it be possible for Miami to go out and get the two-time NBA MVP? An NBA insider believes that yes, the Heat are very much in the mix, and could look at extending him for the foreseeable future.

Haynes: Heat a team Giannis Antetokounmpo would sign a long-term extension with

Recent reports have been saying that a package including Tyler Herro, Kel'el Ware, and draft capital would be the price for Giannis Antetokounmpo in a trade with the Bucks.

NBA insider Chris Haynes reported over the week that he believes the Heat would be a team that could extend the Bucks star to a long-term deal if traded to Miami.

"Miami would definitely have to be a team that you would think, yeah, he would sign long term with," Haynes said on SiriusXM NBA Radio. "With that being said, I think they have to go all in. Whatever that looks like."

If a deal were to take place, Antetokounmpo's contract runs through the 2026-27 season with a player option for 2027-28.

Although Antetokounmpo is dealing with a right calf strain projected to keep him sidelined for another 3-5 weeks, he's still looked just as dominant as in previous years.

Through 30 games this season, he's averaging 28.0 points, 10.0 rebounds, and 5.6 assists while shooting an impressive 64.5 percent from the field and 39.5 percent from three.
