Reggie Miller was the only thing that spoiled Knicks’ big night in shocking Celtics upset

Reggie Miller is haunting Knicks fans even off the court.

The TNT analyst and former public enemy No. 1 of the Knicks dating back to the late 1990s, when he starred for the Pacers during the teams’ epic rivalary, earned horrific reviews for his commentary during the Knicks’ frantic 108-105 overtime win over the Celtics.

Knicks fans and basketball aficionados listened as Miller called for some bizarre substitutions, among many other substance-less thoughts during Game 1 that made some mute the television.

“Reggie Miller not exactly putting on a broadcasting clinic in these final minutes,” Sports Illustrated media reporter Jimmy Traina noted.

“I’ll just say anything and then correct myself when I’m wrong over and over.”

“Not a defender in sight,” Miller said on the call as Jalen Brunson missed a potential game-winning layup as center Al Horford, right in front of him, had his hands up to contest the shot in the final seconds of regulation.

At one point, Miller even suggested the Knicks turning to PJ Tucker after the reserve forward played legitimate minutes in just two games this season after the Clippers outright released him.

Tucker has played in just 34 of a possible 246 games for three different teams over the past three seasons.

There are no more MSG local broadcasts after the first round of the playoffs, so the option of listening to Walt “Clyde” Frazier and Mike Breen is gone.

Between a lack of in-game insight and substance, fans seemed particularly fed up with Miller during Game 1.

“One of the worst parts of the playoffs is having to hear Reggie Miller every other night,” @whoyafool said on X during Monday’s thriller.

“Reggie Miller is so horrifically bad at his job i have to watch most games he calls on mute,” another fan @HoopsReference said on X.

Miller previously poked Knicks fans last season during their second-round playoff series against the Pacers, continually bringing up the Spike Lee rivalry from more than 20 years ago, when he scored eight points in 8.9 seconds to seal a pivotal win.

The Knicks fans will not get a reprieve Wednesday when their game will again be broadcasted by TNT, although Saturday’s Game 3 at Madison Square Garden is on ABC.
