Red Wings' Dylan Larkin trade list is causing a problem

1 hour ago 3

Dylan Larkin requested a trade about two months ago.

At the time, it was reported that he had a three-team list of options that he would waive his no-trade clause for: the Florida Panthers, Minnesota Wild and Vegas Golden Knights

In that time, the Detroit Red Wings haven't traded Larkin, to those three teams or any other.

And the latest update on Tuesday suggests not a lot of movement on this front.

Red Wings reporter Helene St. James wrote on X that Larkin "has not expanded his list." He's still only willing to waive his no-trade clause for those three squads.

That really limits the options, and St. James adds, "No offers from those teams have intrigued Wings. They want value-now players for a 1C with very favorable contract."

Larkin looks even more valuable now after the huge contract signed over the weekend by Leo Carlsson.

The Red Wings captain is making $8.7 million per year for the remainder of his contract, which is a value if he remains a top-six, captain-level player.

The Red Wings and front office leader Steve Yzerman recognize that. They aren't giving Larkin up for cheap.

It sure seems like Detroit is willing to stand firm and simply not make a deal. If it reached the season that way, Larkin would probably not have much choice but to suit up for the Red Wings despite requesting a trade.

His best option may be to open his list up to more teams, so there's a better chance of the Red Wings getting an offer they want to take.

In the meantime, though, no one seems to be budging, and so nothing is really happening.
