Trevor Story's best days as an everyday Major League shortstop are behind him.
Still, he has one year and $25 million remaining on his contract with the Boston Red Sox.
After playing just 64 games and hitting .235 with a .621 OPS, the AL East club may be looking to find a new starting shortstop in 2027.
FanSided's Christopher Kline predicts the Red Sox could be in the mix to add a new shortstop this winter, and Zach Neto from the Los Angeles Angels may be a target.
"Trevor Story's days as a dependable, everyday shortstop are over. Neto brings right-handed pop and speed that should play extremely well at Fenway Park.
"The strikeout issues mirror Story in a way that could frustrate or dissuade Red Sox fans, but the raw talent is too significant to pass up. Story in his prime was quite the talent, after all," Kline wrote.
Neto had his third consecutive 20-20 season in 2027, hitting 27 home runs with 24 stolen bases for the 62-100 Angels.
He's been included in trade rumors in each of the past few seasons, so speculation about his future in Los Angeles is nothing new to him.

Kline's trade proposal sends left-hander Jake Bennett and middle infielder Henry Godbout to the Angels.
Bennett had a solid rookie year with the Red Sox, posting a 3.65 ERA with a minuscule 4.6% walk rate in 113.1 innings.
He could immediately slot into the back end of Atlanta's rotation.
