Red Sox star Rafael Devers finally wakes up from long nightmare

For the first time this season, Rafael Devers broke into a big smile.

The Boston Red Sox superstar was standing on second base. And his long nightmare to open the 2025 season was over.

Devers began the year 0-for-21 with 15 strikeouts, swinging-and-missing on fastballs and everything else, too.

But on Wednesday night, he turned on a breaking ball and lined it into the right-field corner at Camden Yards. It brought a run home and gave Devers his first hit of the season, an overdue double.

It's not a guarantee this solves Devers' woes, but it's a great start.

Like great shooters just needing to see one shot go in, this one hit could be the start to many more for Devers.

Given that he's on a $313 million contract, Devers is surely someone the Red Sox would like to see figure things out sooner rather than later.

With a smile on his face, Devers will almost certainly find his way.
