Red Sox rumored contract offer to Alex Bregman revealed: "It is the most competitive offer"

The Boston Red Sox haven’t done much on the Alex Bregman front, other than keeping in touch with his camp about a possible return. However, it seems now some real progress may be being made.

According to Sox insider Marino Pepen, the Sox have reportedly put an offer on the table for Bregman. And, it seems like they are ready to spend on their leader.

“The #RedSox are offering Alex Bregman $160 million for 5 years, with a willingness to continue negotiating intelligently (options and incentives). Currently, it's the most competitive offer…,” Pepen tweeted.

This report does coincide with a report from ESPN’s Buster Olney, who revealed the Sox made an aggressive offer to Bregman and believes the two sides will reunite.

“I think Alex Bregman is gonna go back to the Red Sox. From what I understand the Red Sox have made an aggressive offer on him,” Olney stated.

This past season, Bregman slashed .273/.360/.462/.821 with 28 doubles, 18 home runs, and 62 RBI in 114 games. If he can stay healthy, it may be a bit of an overpay by the end of the deal, but the first few years would keep the Sox as serious contenders.

Hopefully, this offer turns out to be true, and the Sox make sure their superstar leader stays in Boston for years to come.
