Red Sox receive trade talk updates regarding Brayan Bello, other star pitchers

The Boston Red Sox have been one of the most active trade partners in the MLB this offseason, and it has netted them a great amount of depth in the pitching department. Now, they could use this depth for more trades to address other concerns.

Luckily, they have some options they know they can work with. According to The Athletic’s Jen McCaffrey, the Sox have received trade interest for Brayan Bello, Patrick Sandoval, and Jordan Hicks.

“Bello and Sandoval are among the starters who’ve surfaced in trade talks, according to a league source, while reliever Jordan Hicks has also been discussed,” McCaffrey wrote.

Of the three, moving Bello would probably be the least ideal, but they would get the best return for him. He had his career-best season, finishing 2025 with a 11-9 record, a 3.35 ERA, 124 Ks, and a WHIP of 1.236 in 166 innings pitched. He’s likely a season away from breaking out, and any teams interested probably know that.

As for Sandoval and Hicks, if the Sox can get something in return for them that benefits them even a little bit, they probably should. Sandoval is coming off a year of not playing after having Tommy John surgery, and Hicks had a 8.20 ERA with Boston, and he’s owed $12 million this year.

Hopefully, the Sox can package Sandoval and Hicks for a solid middle infielder or prospects, and/or land someone good with Bello, although losing him would hurt.
