Red Sox predicted to trade for Diamondbacks $100M All-Star

The Boston Red Sox have put themselves in a position to be buyers at the trade deadline. They are on a 10-game win streak going into the break, and some additions could set them up for a run.

First base could be an area the team could look to upgrade at. Casas will be back next season, and if the Red Sox still believe in him, they could target rental first basemen. Jim Riley of BALLCAP Sports predicted they would trade for Josh Naylor of the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Naylor was an All-Star last season. This year, he is slashing .294/.361/.456 with 30 extra-base hits. He also has 58 RBIs and 35 walks. He could be an everyday player for the team. He is projected to earn a $100 million deal in the offseason, and USA Today's Bob Nightengale revealed that the Diamondbacks are willing to trade him.

The Red Sox season looked like a lost cause at one point. However, they are suddenly firing on all cylinders and are in a position to make a run. Adding a player like Naylor could change the outlook of their offense.

Having Naylor in a lineup with Bregman would be great for the team. Additionally, the Red Sox's young players, like Ceddanne Rafaela, are heating up. Their offense could be a real threat in October with Naylor. He has 79 home runs and a .799 OPS since 2022.
