The Boston Red Sox aren't going to get rid of Rafael Devers.
They do have to solve once and for all his long-term position, though, to avoid upsetting the balance of things anytime an injury or opportunity creates an opening somewhere on the infield.
Devers wanted to stay at third base, but when Boston moved him off that spot to DH, he then refused to play first base.
The Red Sox can solve all of that this offseason with one key signing.
The Athletic's Jim Bowden suggests the Red Sox should try to sign Pete Alonso in the offseason.
Alonso is in the first year of a two-year, $54 million deal with the Mets that has an opt out after the first year.

The right-handed slugger known as the Polar Bear has an OPS in the top-five of MLB's leaderboards so far this season.
After a strong postseason last year nearly got the Mets to the World Series, Alonso has picked up right where he left off.
If he keeps playing like this, opting out after the season will make sense. And that'll set up any team that wants Alonso to make him a huge offer.
Alonso might provide a hometown discount to the Mets, but in reality, he'll probably go after the payday and fit that feel right.
