Lakers' castoff Alex Caruso is better at one skill than anyone in NBA for OKC Thunder

Alex Caruso proves every night he's on the floor that the Lakers should've re-signed him back in 2021.

But they let him go to the Bulls for four years and $37 million, and then Chicago traded him to the Thunder for Josh Giddey. So here we are, Caruso starring for Oklahoma City in the Western Conference Finals as the Lakers (and Bulls) sit at home and watch.

Those watching have noticed something incredible about Caruso. Yes, he's a sneaky-skilled offensive player and broadly speaking one of the best defenders in the NBA.

He also has a superpower.

Caruso avoids screens better than anyone in the NBA.

Sure, that's just one clip. But it's not the first time Caruso has had a viral highlight package of screen avoidance.

It sums up his overall defensive ability, too, in terms of his quickness, anticipation and aggression.

It's just one small part of things, but it captures Caruso's essence.

This is a guy who just guarded Nikola Jokic in a Game 7 before getting the very different assignment of Anthony Edwards on Tuesday night. Edwards only was able to attempt one field goal in the fourth quarter and didn't score.

In large part, that's because Caruso simply wouldn't come unglued.
