Red Sox first baseman names three players who can add more 'home run power' for the team

In December, the Boston Red Sox traded for first baseman William Contreras, one of the few notable moves they made in the offseason.

One reason people assume Boston made the trade is Contreras's ability to provide strong offense, as he has averaged 15-20 home runs over his lengthy career.

However, it is well known that great teams around the league have multiple players who are threats to knock the ball out of the park or who get on base often, and Contreras named three players he believes can add to that threat for the Red Sox.

Young talents Ceddane Rafaela, Roman Anthony, and Marcelo Mayer were the players that the veteran believes could be in line for a big year.

"I think it's really impressive how they go through their business and how much power they have already, even though they're young. I think with the future, they're going to add a lot more," Contreras declared.

All three players have shown they have what it takes to succeed in the league, even though they are very early in their careers.

With the team losing a highly impactful all-star and World Series champion like Alex Bregman to the Chicago Cubs, it will provide many opportunities for Rafaela, Anthony, and Mayer to step up alongside Contreras and Jarren Duran to keep the Red Sox competitive.

Usually, when a team has a good bit of younger players, it's doubted coming into the season. This allows them to be free and focus heavily on their game, which could lead them to become a team nobody expected to have a great season. If that is the case for the Red Sox, it'll more than likely be because of those three guys taking their game to greater heights.
