Red Sox could deal young middle infielder this offseason

The Boston Red Sox are currently sitting with a 60-51 record, which is good for the second Wild Card playoff spot in the American League.

If the season ended today, the Red Sox would be playing their biggest rival, the New York Yankees, in the Wild Card round.

The Red Sox didn't add many players at the trade deadline, and one player they could've gotten rid of was middle infielder Vaughn Grissom.

Grissom has been sitting in the minor leagues for most of the season and would've been a good trade option to acquire a position of need.

Grissom seems like he is going to be the odd man out with players like Trevor Story, Alex Bregman, and Ceddanne Rafaela in the way for maybe years to come.

Even though Grissom wasn't traded at the deadline, he could be this offseason, and Katie Manganelli from Fansided thinks it could be a real option.

"The Red Sox traded for Vaughn Grissom before the 2024 season when they sent former ace Chris Sale to the Braves. Grissom's tenure in Boston hasn't been memorable so far, as his first season was marred by injuries, leading to just 31 appearances in the big leagues, and he's spent all of 2025 in the minor leagues," Manganelli wrote. "Boston had a golden opportunity to give Grissom another chance in the majors when Marcelo Mayer went on the injured list for his sprained wrist. Instead, the Red Sox summoned David Hamilton, who's struggled all season long, and they showed they're not high on Grissom in the process. Grissom is yet another middle infielder in Boston's ranks, and it seems to have no real plan for his future. Luckily, he's redeemed his trade value this year after a great first half with the WooSox, to the tune of a .278/.345/.452 slash line with 24 doubles and 12 homers over 89 games. Grissom deserves an opportunity to play in the major leagues, and the Red Sox have telegraphed that it may come with another team."

The Boston Red Sox should've seen what they could've gotten for Grissom at the deadline since he most likely won't be helping the team this fall.
