Last season, the Boston Red Sox exceeded expectations after finishing the regular season 89-73 and making the playoffs for the first time since 2021 before losing to the New York Yankees in three games during the ALWC.
So far during the offseason, the Red Sox have not made too many moves. In fact, they were actually the last organization in the MLB to sign a free agent when they signed starting pitcher Ranger Suarez from the Philadelphia Phillies last week.
Fans of the team, along with many analysts, have criticized them for failing to make moves to improve, especially after losing offensive firepower such as Alex Bregman, who signed with the Chicago Cubs last month.

Speaking of the Cubs, reports have come out that the Red Sox may be attempting to return the favor by taking valuable members from Chicago, as they have 'checked in' about infielders Nico Hoerner and Matt Shaw, as reported by Boston Globe reporter Alex Speier.
This wouldn't be the first time there was speculation that the Red Sox were in the mix for impactful players, but over the years, Boston has ended up unable to secure the deal and bring them in.
However, if the Red Sox actually pull off a trade to bring in Hoerner and Shaw, along with the young talent they already possess, such as Roman Anthony, Jarren Duran, Trevor Story, Ceddanne Rafaela, etc., it could make them a sneaky contender next season for a deeper postseason and potentially a shot at bringing another World Series to Fenway Park.
