Even in defeat, Texas Tech’s David Bailey continues to make his presence felt. The pass rusher once again looked unstoppable in Saturday’s 26–22 loss to Arizona State, recording two sacks, on back-to-back plays, to further strengthen his case as one of the nation’s elite defensive players.
Bailey, a first-year transfer from Stanford, has been a revelation in Lubbock. Through just a handful of games, he leads the FBS with 10.5 sacks, consistently wreaking havoc off the edge and commanding double teams on nearly every snap. His production has been the centerpiece of a Texas Tech defense that thrives on pressure, and no one has embodied that identity better than Bailey.
NFL scouts have taken notice. His combination of speed, technique, and relentless motor has pushed him up draft boards across the league, and each dominant performance only adds to the buzz surrounding his future.
For now, Bailey’s focus remains on Texas Tech’s stretch run. While the Red Raiders’ playoff hopes have dimmed slightly, their star pass rusher continues to shine brighter each week, a relentless force capable of changing a game in a single series.
If he keeps this pace, David Bailey’s name won’t just be leading the nation in sacks, it’ll be one of the day one names called next April in the NFL Draft.
