Real Madrid starlet all set for a 'bigger role' under potential new manager

Real Madrid are all set to go through a massive transformation in the upcoming summer transfer window. The club from the Spanish capital may potentially end the current campaign without a trophy and therefore there will be repercussions at the club.

As per reports, current manager Carlo Ancelotti is all set to leave Los Blancos at the end of the season, with Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso replacing the Italian.

The team management believes that the Spanish manager will bring fresh ideas as they were highly impressed by his accomplishments last season with Leverkusen when he won the Bundesliga unbeaten, along with the DFB Pokal.

However, as per reports, Alonso has already made some demands. He has a wishlist of players that he would like at Santiago Bernabeu if he makes the move.

Some of the players, who are not in his plans, may even get sold to free up funds. However, Arda Guler is one of the players who may get a much more prominent role under Alonso.

The Spaniard has been a big admirer of the Turkish sensation and wanted him on loan at Bayer Leverkusen in the January window. As per reports of Diario AS, Guler is well within Alonso's plans amid rumours of him leaving the club in the upcoming window.

The 20-year-old dynamic midfielder can be one of the most integral players in Alonso's system as he changes the club for good.

Why was Arda Guler unsettled under Carlo Ancelotti?

There's no denying the talent that Guler has, but his tenure at the Spanish capital has seen plenty of highs and lows. He was mostly used as an impact substitute by Ancelotti throughout the current season.

Although he has changed the course of the game a couple of times after making an appearance from the bench, he has been preferred in a fringe role.

With the 20-year-old's growth reaching a level of stagnancy, he became unsettled in Madrid. However, reports suggest that Guler will get a more prominent role if Alonso eventually decides to move to the Spanish capital.

Guler has featured in 23 La Liga outings this season, scoring twice and providing three assists. But he has registered only nine starts in the competition, clocking only 867 minutes. He started only three out of six Copa del Rey games and had one start in seven Champions League outings this season.

His Copa del Rey appearance against Barcelona was his 50th appearance for the club and therefore Real Madrid will have to pay an additional €4 million bonus to his former club Fenerbahce. He moved to Madrid a couple of seasons ago from Fernerbahce when they sold him for €24 million along with many bonuses.
