Real Madrid will face Real Sociedad in their final La Liga match for this season. It will reportedly be the last game in charge for Carlo Ancelotti.

Although it is not official yet, Los Blancos have already identified Xabi Alonso as the potential new manager to replace the Italian tactician.

The Spaniard is all set to take charge of the team in the FIFA Club World Cup scheduled for next month in the United States. So Real Madrid are already closing in on deals with players according to Alonso's demands.

They need wholesale changes after enduring a season where they have failed short in securing any of the three major titles.

Recently, Real Madrid defender Dani Carvajal shared his thoughts on Alonso potentially taking over as the new manager at the Spanish capital.

"It looks like Xabi is going to be the one coming in even though it's not official," Carvajal told the reporters

"Only time will tell if Xabi is the right man to turn this year around, as we haven't won any of the three major titles. But that's football. In the end, results are what determine the future of coaches, players."

The Spain international highlights Alonso's past experience of playing for Real Madrid will help him as a manager as he knows the club inside out.

Also, he has proven his credentials with Bayer Leverkusen as he guided them to the 2023/24 Bundesliga title unbeaten, whilst winning the domestic double and reaching the final of the Europa League

"Xabi has just had two fantastic seasons with Bayer Leverkusen, and I think he will do very well.

"He knows the club better than anyone, he's been a player, he's defended the badge for many years, he knows what it means to be a Madrid player, and I think that's also a plus for him as a coach."

What did Carvajal say about Ancelotti's departure?

Ancelotti will be leaving the club only to take over duties at the Brazil national team, preparing for next year's FIFA World Cup. Under him, Los Blancos won 15 trophies across two spells.

As per statistics, he is the most successful manager for Real Madrid having won three Champions League titles. He led Los Blancos to a Champions League and La Liga double last season.

Carvajal, who has been with the Italian in both his stints is sad about his departure. he shared the impact that Ancelotti has had in his career.

"I have mixed feelings," Carvajal said. "I'm very sad about Carlo's departure. I'm sad to see him go. I've been with him for many years, in his first spell and in this second one, we've won everything with him."

"He's like a footballing father to me and, well, I say this with great sadness, but in the end I hope that next Saturday the coach gets the send-off he deserves as the most successful coach in the club's history."

Overall, Real Madrid are entering a new era, and they have already taken major steps in the market, preparing for life after Ancelotti's departure.

It remains to be seen if the former Real Madrid midfielder manages to live up to the expectations of the Los Blancos on his return as a manager.
