Real Madrid, Manchester United entering transfer war for Germany star

This summer is set to be a big one for Felix Nmecha, as the Borussia Dortmund star has gotten his World Cup career off with a resounding start, scoring a lone goal amid Germany's 7-1 thrashing of Curacao, while also taking four shots, three of which were on target, as well as winning three tackles in the midfield.

These numbers against the CONCACAF side were more of a continuation of what the German was producing in his 42 appearances for Dortmund last season, wrapping up the 2025-26 campaign with eight goal involvements, five of which were shots of his own into the back of the net, while also recording 35 interceptions and 28 won tackles.

Nmecha is being eyed by some big names

As a result of these performances and more, Nmecha has found himself on the radars of some of the bigger teams around Europe, with clubs in England and Spain wanting to acquire him in the months to come, according to a recent report.

As reported by Sky Sports' Patrick Berger and Nico Ditter, Real Madrid and Manchester United are among the teams interested, with the La Liga side seeing the German international as a depth piece for their midfield.

"There is undoubtedly a need for reinforcements, as Real Madrid are looking to strengthen their midfield. Besides Los Blancos, Premier League giants Manchester United... are also in the running," writes Berger and Ditter.

Nmecha would be one of the bigger names brought into the Bernabeu by the recently re-elected Florentino Perez, who made some big promises to the club's supporters during his campaign, with a squad overhaul on the cards after Los Blancos failed to lift a trophy for the second straight season.

While it's about adding a depth piece for Real Madrid, it's more about filling a hole for the Red Devils, as their midfield recently saw the departure of Casemiro, who was a constant figure for the Premier League side. The Brazilian, who was famously a member of Real Madrid at one point in his career, made 35 appearances for the Red Devils last season, recording 11 goal involvements.

Despite all of this interest, the report by Sky Sports was quick to indicate that Dortmund aren't in any rush to sell Nmecha, given the time left on his current contract, as well as his release clause not being activated until next year.

"Borussia Dortmund, however, is in a very comfortable position, having extended Nmecha's contract until 2030 in March," states Berger and Ditter. "A transfer would therefore be extremely expensive, especially since the central midfielder's release clause only becomes active in 2027."

The potential bidding war between Los Blancos and the Red Devils will be something to look for in the months to come.
