Jaylen Brown may very well be traded this offseason from the Boston Celtics. It could even be in a deal to the Milwaukee Bucks for Giannis Antetokounmpo.
But as the rumor mill turns, not all the information out there is true. Apparently, not even the intel presented on ESPN by analyst Jay Williams.
Williams was on the show Get Up on Tuesday morning, and he proclaimed this:
“Jaylen Brown has already also unfollowed the Boston Celtics on all his social media. So there's a lot of stuff going on, guys.”
In this world where people monitor social media accounts to try to get hints of what's coming, that seems quite notable.
One problem: It isn't true.

Brown's account on X still shows him following the Celtics. His Instagram account shows the same thing.
So whether this is Williams getting duped himself by false information, or simply not actually looking into this, it's a bad look.
Everyone watching, or seeing the clip of Williams circulate in their feeds, is thinking it's true, even when it's not.

Some of ESPN's content does seem angled at creating drama and talking points, but the network doesn't generally do that by making stuff up.
This seems to be a Williams error, not any sort of planned thing.
Regardless of the reason, though, it's a bad look, and it adds odd pressure on the Celtics even though the information isn't even coming from a place of truth.
Maybe there'll be a day that Brown unfollows the Celtics on social media. This day, though, is not that day.
