Real Madrid are reportedly considering signing Chelsea star Enzo Fernandez as a potential replacement for Luka Modric.
After the Croatian legend announced that he will be leaving Los Blancos for good at the end of the season, Madrid have wasted no time in looking for his replacement.
According to Cadenaser, Madrid have two new midfield options on their radar: Fernandez and Argentinian compatriot and Bayer Leverkusen ace Exequiel Palacios.
Though Madrid have been strongly linked with a move for Fernandez in the recent weeks, Chelsea are unlikely to let go of the Argentine unless Madrid offer more than the £106.8 million ($143m) Chelsea paid Benfica for him back in 2023.
Incidentally, speculation that the 24-year-old wants to move to Santiago Bernabeu has increased since he made a comment about his favourite EA FC team recently.
The report adds that Madrid will be hoping that Chelsea fail to win the Europa Conference League final against Real Betis and fall short in their bid to qualify for next season's Champions League as that may hasten a possible Stamford Bridge exit for Fernandez.

Another report in the Spanish media adds that Fernandez has reportedly agreed personal terms with Madrid and has started to look for properties in Madrid ahead of a desired move to the club.
Regardless of Madrid’s interest to sign Fernandez as a replacement for Modric and the 24-yaer-old’s desire to join the club, the Spanish side will have to agree a deal with Chelsea in order to complete the deal.
And it is extremely unlikely that the Blues will let go of their midfielder, as they signed him from Benfica for a whopping £106.8 million in 2023. More importantly, Fernandez’s current deal at Chelsea runs until 2032, so Chelsea will be in no hurry to renew his contract.
Regardless of that fact though, this story is worth keeping an eye on as we head into the summer transfer window.
