The Major League Baseball trade deadline is still a few months away, but it's never too early to evaluate what teams need.
Surprisingly, the Tampa Bay Rays have been one of the best clubs in baseball thus far. But they need more guys to step up on offense.
"Between the catcher, second base, shortstop, and center field spots in the lineup, Tampa Bay has gotten a combined total of five home runs and a cumulative slugging percentage of almost exactly .300," Bleacher Report's Kerry Miller wrote.
Junior Caminero and Jonathan Aranda provide most of the club's power. Caminero leads the team with 11 home runs, and Aranda has connected for five.
Miller writes that the first-place team could target an outfielder from the Colorado Rockies.
"Junior Caminero, Jonathan Aranda, and Yandy Díaz have been excellent, but that is an awful lot of slack in the lineup for a few big bats to carry for the entire season," Miller added. "Budget is always a major concern for the Rays, but this could be quite the landing spot for Colorado's Mickey Moniak ($4M in 2026 with one year of arbitration eligibility remaining)."

Moniak, the first overall pick in 2016, is tearing the cover off the ball for the Rockies. He's hit 12 home runs after launching a career-high 24 in 2025.
A roster spot could open up if the Rays decide to cut ties with the struggling Cedric Mullins.
His .433 OPS in 141 trips to the plate is less than impressive.
