Diego Pavia's first weeks in the NFL have gone according to plan.
After falling out of the 2026 NFL Draft, there's only room looking up for the former Vanderbilt quarterback. Pavia, who many considered as one of the better quarterbacks in this year's pool, received a lot of scrutiny for his off-the-field antics and subpar stature.
The Ravens signed Pavia to a three-year UDFA contract, which gives him a good chance of landing on the final 53-man roster as a third-string option. After throwing for over 3,500 yards with 39 total touchdowns at Vanderbilt last season, Baltimore's coaching staff will have a tough decision to make. Pavia's edgy attitude isn't for everyone, but his competitive nature will be interesting to watch.
Pavia is set to arrive at camp on July 15, and he will continue to prepare himself for when it’s time to prove he’s ready. In the meantime, the Ravens announced he'll take on the No. 17 for training camp. Fans have become so accustomed to seeing him wear No. 2 at Vanderbilt. However, the decision to give him a higher number might give him a new identity in the NFL.

At the end of the day, the player makes the number. It's a good reset for Pavia, who is starting from the bottom for the first time in his career. There are two QBs to make the No. 17 famous in NFL history. Philip Rivers, who played 16 seasons in the league, and Don Meredith, who starred for the Dallas Cowboys in the 1960s.
