Ravens get major props for making 2 of the best value picks of 2025 NFL draft

The Baltimore Ravens are historically great at finding top-flight talent in the NFL draft, and the 2025 class may be no different.

The Sporting News' Dan Treacy recently identified 14 of the best value picks of the 2025 NFL draft and the Ravens were credited with two of them: Georgia safety Malaki Starks and Marshall edge rusher Mike Green.

Treacy called the selection of Starks a "smart pick" and considered Starks a "high-level" safety who he believes should have been chosen earlier than No. 27 overall.

"This was another quiet but smart pick by the Ravens, who patiently waited for a high-level safety to fall to them at No. 27," he wrote. "A safe prospect who played various roles on Georgia's defense, Starks is going to an organization that has proven it can develop versatile defensive backs, including new teammate Kyle Hamilton. It would be surprising if Baltimore didn't turn Starks into a legitimate weapon in their secondary next to Hamilton."

As for Green, who was widely considered a first-round pick by experts but likely fell to late in the second round due to past allegations of sexual assault against him, Treacy believes his talent "far exceeds" where the Ravens ultimately landed him.

"Green came with concerns of his own, as he revealed at the NFL Combine that he has faced two allegations of sexual assault," Treacy wrote. "The details are scant, at least to the public. One accusation came in high school, while another ended his tenure at Virginia in 2022. Neither case resulted in a criminal charge, and Green isn't facing any legal trouble.

"With that being said, his talent far exceeds the No. 59 pick," he added. "After a monstrous 17-sack season at Marshall, Green has the physical tools and production of a first-round prospect. The Ravens needed some pass-rushing help, and they added a player who can quickly make an impact in Green."

Starks' high football IQ and impressive athleticism makes him a great fit next to Kyle Hamilton and could give Baltimore an elite duo at the position for several years to come.

Meanwhile, Green is coming off a season in which his 17 sacks led the FBS and he will offer strong depth going into Year 1 before he hopefully developing into a starter at some point late in the year or in 2026.
