The Tennessee Titans can't buy a win in 2024, as Brian Callahan's squad suffered a 23-13 defeat to the Minnesota Vikings in Week 11 and are now just 2-8 on the year. Tennessee will travel to NRG Stadium to take on the Houston Texans in Week 12.
One of the primary reasons for the Titans' abysmal performance this season has been the lackluster passing game. Though the aerial attack showed some signs of life versus the Vikings on Sunday, quarterback Will Levis hasn't been able to establish a consistent rhythm and build strong chemistry with some of his pass-catchers this season.
With Tennessee lacking talent in the pass-catching department outside of Calvin Ridley and the occasional big play from Nick Westbrook-Ikhine, Bleacher Report's Scouting Department believes the team should sign Baltimore Ravens' wide receiver Diontae Johnson in free agency this offseason.
Whether it's Will Levis or another quarterback in 2025, the Titans are going to need to find some help for their signal-caller next season. Trading away DeAndre Hopkins was a shrewd move for a rebuilding team that didn't have hope of competing this season.
Brian Callahan has seen what Diontae Johnson is capable of from watching Johnson work for the Steelers when Callahan was with the Bengals. The veteran receiver was the third-ranked receiver on Kris Knox's free agent big board and would provide support for Ridley and the quarterback.
Though the Titans need another receiver after trading Deandre Hopkins to the Kansas City Chiefs, Diontae Johnson shouldn't be on Tennessee's radar. The 2019 third-round pick has been productive in the past but has regressed in 2024 and isn't the same player he once was.
Johnson was traded to the Ravens after just seven games with the Carolina Panthers. The move was expected to take the Ravens' offense to the next level, but the veteran receiver has tallied just one reception in three games with his new squad and is struggling to build chemistry with quarterback Lamar Jackson.
Johnson would be an upgrade over Westbrook-Ikhine, but the 28-year-old will demand a sizeable contract and has had an underwhelming 2024 campaign thus far. He has also shown a less-than ideal attitude in multiple places he's been.
General manager Ran Carthon should address the Titans' need for another playmaker elsewhere and avoid Johnson at all costs.
