Rashod Bateman fantasy football injury update: Should fantasy managers be concerned as Ravens WR misses practice?

Rashod Bateman is one of the more underrated players for the Baltimore Ravens. Throughout his career so far, he has neither covered over 800 yards, let alone 900 or 1,000 in a season, nor scored double-digit touchdowns.

However, he is still a pressure reliever in a team that has historically emphasized running the football, especially with the current presence of Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry. Thus, his current status may disappoint fans, whether they are fantasy managers or not.

On Wednesday, the wide receiver was among five players who did not practice, owing to an ankle injury. Notably, Jackson was also among that group because of a sprained knee:

Should Bateman's absence extend all the way to Sunday, however, there is no need to worry for the Ravens' fantasy owners.

The team has been finding its footing as of late, even if slowly, and now only needs to beat the Cleveland Browns and hope that the Pittsburgh Steelers lose to the Cincinnati Bengals to reach .500 and join their rivals on top of the AFC North.

And even without Bateman, they still have a strong offense to do so. Henry, despite being disappointing when compared to his 2024 dominance, is still a capable running workhorse on the ground, while DeAndre Hopkins, Zay Flowers, and Mark Andrews remain the primary aerial threats.

The defense, while still rather weak, has made some strides. Alohi Gilman has become an invaluable contributor at nickelback, while Dre'Mont Jones adds another pass-rushing presence in place of Odafe Oweh.

All in all, John Harbaugh will not sorely miss his presence on the field, but having him will still help in keeping defenses guessing.

One can look at Rashod Bateman and think he is insignificant as a big-haul contributor, and they may be right. Only once this season has he scored double-digit points - and it was in a loss against the Detroit Lions.

There are certainly more productive WR2s available out there, like Jameson Williams and Tee Higgins, but some managers do not look for raw numbers. They look for the little things, like route support, and Bateman is more than capable of doing his share there.

And in a realm that is often filled with big numbers that can sometimes mean "a whole lot of nothing", as they say, that is more important to those people.
