The Texas Rangers made a few notable roster moves before Friday's series opener against the Cleveland Guardians.
Among them is reinstating shortstop Corey Seager from the injured list, which should be a huge boost for the Rangers' offense if he can hit to the back of his baseball card.
Elsewhere, the Rangers designated outfielder and second baseman Sam Haggerty for assignment, per an announcement from the AL West club.
Haggerty, a switch hitter who recently turned 32, played 35 games this season before the DFA. His offensive numbers were poor, to say the least.
In 47 trips to the plate, the former Seattle Mariners utility man hit .159/.213/.182 with 16 strikeouts and just seven hits.
Haggerty debuted in 2019 with the New York Mets. He brings versatility on defense and can steal bases when called upon, swiping 10 or more bags three times in his career despite never surpassing 83 games in a season.

The Rangers recently signed Jarred Kelenic to a minor league contract with hopes he can find a rhythm at Triple-A and provide some level of offensive production in the Majors.
But Kelenic's bumpy career path doesn't indicate he is a sure thing to provide more at the plate than Haggerty.
