The Los Angeles Rams and Kansas City Chiefs pulled off a blockbuster trade on Wednesday that sent cornerback Trent McDuffie to the Rams.
The Rams sent a whopping four draft picks to the Chiefs for McDuffie, including the No. 29 overall pick, a fifth-round pick, sixth-round selection and a 2027 third-round pick.
Now, the next order of business is signing McDuffie to a contract extension as he prepares to enter the final year of his rookie deal.
According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, that extension is going to come soon, and Rapoport says McDuffie will likely be the highest-paid cornerback when it gets done in a deal that will have more than $30.1 million in new money.

"When Trent McDuffie gets his new contract, which should be soon, it's likely that he's the new highest-paid CB in the NFL at more than $30.1M in new money. The Rams, who acquired McDuffie and his $13.6M salary in 2026, will see it as an entirely new contract," Rapoport wrote.
The current highest-paid cornerback in the NFL is Indianapolis Colts defender Sauce Gardner, who has a four-year, $120.4 million contract that boasts an annual average salary of $30.1 million.
Assuming McDuffie gets a four-year deal, he could hit a total value of $121 million, which would work out to $30.25 million per year.
As if we needed more evidence the Rams are all in.
Granted, the Rams needed help at cornerback, but to give up that much draft capital and then spend that much money on McDuffie says all we need to know about Los Angeles' aspirations in 2026.
