Rams shockingly named 'best landing spot' for $230 million quarterback

When you look at the Los Angeles Rams, they don't seem like a team with dire needs, considering they're on the cusp of making their third Super Bowl under head coach Sean McVay.

But considering MVP-hopeful quarterback Matthew Stafford's age, they may need to begin searching for a future replacement to take over for Stafford when he decides to hang it up.

Bleacher Report's Kristopher Knox tabbed the Rams as an ideal landing spot for a quarterback who may be on the outs with his current team, and would give Los Angeles a high-upside backup to work with as Stafford's career winds down.

Rams named best landing spot for Cardinals QB Kyler Murray

Knox listed the Rams as the best possible situation for Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray, who is likely going to be looking for a new home this offseason.

"The Cardinals would undoubtedly prefer to trade the 28-year-old, but finding a trade partner will be difficult. Cutting him with a post-June 1 designation and saving $5.7 million in cap space will also be an option," wrote Knox.

"If Murray is released, the rival Los Angeles Rams could provide the perfect landing spot for him. He could rebuild his NFL stock under Sean McVay—as Baker Mayfield once did—and L.A. will eventually need an heir to the 37-year-old Matthew Stafford."

The deciding factor in a Rams-Murray marriage would likely be monetary. For a team trying to compete for the Super Bowl on a yearly basis, they can't have their backup quarterback making that kind of money.

With a trade being unlikely, the only way Murray could make his way to Los Angeles is if the Cardinals cut him outright, but I'm not sure if that's a cost ownership is willing to swallow.
