Jade Cargill is riding high on top of WWE SmackDown as the Women's Champion, which means that she has a target on her back. She suffered a backstage assault at the hands of a 36-year-old star on SmackDown.
This week's episode of SmackDown was pre-taped a week ago. It was meant to be the December 26th episode, but it seemed like WWE changed their mind and made it the 19th December episode instead. In its place, the tapings this week were for the 22nd December episode of RAW and the 26th December episode of SmackDown.
Jade Cargill was interviewed backstage by Jackie Redmond, who asked her about her upcoming challenger, Michin, aka Mia Yim. She said that she was generous enough to give her the spotlight and would be done with her soon. However, Michin would sneak up and smack her in the back with a kendo stick to remind her who she was. She was about to follow up, but security and then B-Fab seemed to come out of nowhere to stop her. This was in a build-up to what is presumably a WWE Women's Title match between Jade Cargill and Michin.
What was interesting was the fact that B-Fab has repeatedly had specific facial expressions when confronted by Jade Cargill. Something uncertain seems to be lingering in her face, which has led some to speculate that she could potentially turn on her ally, Michin, to align with Cargill.
Cargill having a sidekick would certainly be interesting to watch, but for now, Michin will be looking to get on top of the Women's division. Last year around this time, she was vying for the inaugural Women's United States Championship, which was eventually won by Chelsea Green.
As for Cargill, Michin will be the first major obstacle before the road to the Royal Rumble begins.
