Rams predicted to get breakout year from second-round TE despite crowded room

The Los Angeles Rams have an incredibly talented roster, with stars littered across the team on both sides of the ball. A lot of focus has been on the defense, with the Myles Garrett and Trent McDuffie trades, but the offense is still elite.

Looking at the Rams' offense, one position group stands out as being the most intriguing, and it's the tight end room. With five potential NFL-caliber options, it's hard to imagine one breaking free from this group.

But, according to ESPN's Sarah Bishop, some within the Rams building, including fellow TE Tyler Higbee, are predicting that second-round TE Terrance Ferguson will have a breakout sophomore season in 2026 for the Rams.

"But several people in the Rams' building have pointed to Ferguson as a player they think will take a big step forward in Year 2," Bishop writes.

Ferguson had a relatively quiet rookie season after being taken with the No. 46 overall pick in the second-round of the 2025 NFL Draft.

He caught just 11 passes in 2025 on 25. targets, but he had 231 receiving yards and three total touchdowns and nine first downs.

While the Rams have Colby Parkinson, Higbee, Davis Allen, and 2026 Day 2 pick Max Klare in the tight end room with Ferguson, the Rams' second-year TE is predicted to breakout in 2026.

Higbee believes, "He's going to be a great player," and that the Rams' second-year tight end has "got it" when it comes to making it in the NFL.

The Rams tight end is predicted by those within the team facilities to have a breakout second season in the NFL, and if he is able to earn more trust from Matthew Stafford, then a breakout season, if he's playing often, could be in the cards.
