Rams officially have Aaron Donald in for a workout amid rumors of a return

The Los Angeles Rams, ever since they traded for Myles Garrett in one of the biggest blockbuster trades of NFL history, have been connected to Aaron Donald about potentially coming out of retirement.

It's been much more than simple rumors or speculation, as the Rams are clearly interested in bringing back the future Hall of Famer to pair with Garrett. But the question has been about whether he's actually going to be ready to go after being retired for the last two years.

Well, the first step towards a potential return for Donald was made on Wednesday, as ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Donald had a workout with the Rams, indicating he's serious about potentially coming out of retirement for a Super Bowl push.

"Aaron Donald worked out today for the Los Angeles Rams, per the NFL wire," Schefter reported Wednesday afternoon.

This is some huge news for the Rams, as while it's not Donald announcing his decision to return to the Rams and the NFL, it is a first step.

By going through this workout, Donald is clearly opening the door to coming out of retirement and joining the Rams this season more than he has before.

Donald is 35 years old and hasn't played in the NFL since the 2023 season. He is a 10-time Pro Bowler, an eight-time first-team All-Pro, and has 111 career sacks.

He's already won a ring with the Rams in his career, and could be eyeing a second if he comes out of retirement and rejoins the Super Bowl-favorite Rams.

Schefter followed up his report with an interesting note about Donald's Wednesday workout. He reported the following:

"Aaron Donald wanted to do a workout in a football helmet, and even though he did not wear pads during it, he used Rams' team equipment at their facility during training camp, requiring them to report his activity to the NFL," Schefter reports.

While this wasn't the typical workout/tryout for NFL players at training camp, it's still a noteworthy development for the Rams and Donald, as the potential for a reunion grows stronger and stronger with each passing report.
