Rams legend Aaron Donald beckoned from retirement after Myles Garrett trade

1 hour ago 3

Aaron Donald is retired from the NFL, and it seems he's happy to keep it that way.

But what if there had been just a flicker of doubt in his mind? The Los Angeles Rams' trade of Myles Garrett on Monday could certainly have prodded at that, if it was there in any way.

Because the Rams just got the guy who set the NFL's single-season sacks record in 2025, acquiring him in a massive blockbuster trade from the Cleveland Browns.

Donald played with some good defensive players, but never anyone like Garrett.

Analysts and fans took to social media to point out that a Donald return would be just about the most exciting thing that could happen next:

Aaron Donald owes it to science to unretire and line up next to Myles Garrett just to see what would happen.

Donald just turned 35 in May.

He hasn't played in the NFL since 2023, when he appeared in 16 games and had 8.0 sacks.

Donald is one of the most impactful interior defenders in NFL history.

In the past couple years, there have been moments when people have wanted to believe Donald might come back. It doesn't seem like it's something that would actually happen.

But if anything could entice Donald, maybe it'd be Garrett.

No, there's nothing to actually suggest Donald is returning. But it's fun to dream about.
