The Los Angeles Rams, since Sean McVay took over in 2017, have had teams lining up to try to pry their coaching talent away every offseason.
This offseason was more of the same, with defensive coordinator Chris Shula and passing game coordinator Nate Scheelhaase drawing serious head coaching interest. Shula looks like he's staying in Los Angeles, but Scheelhaase was a finalist for one head coaching job.
Fortunately, as ESPN's Adam Schefter reports, the Cleveland Browns aren't hiring Scheelhaase, instead hiring former Baltimore Ravens OC Todd Monken to be their new head coach. This decision from the Browns is some great news for the Rams.
Rams get great news from Browns on HC hiring
As ESPN's Jeremy Fowler elaborated on, this decision from the Browns likely means that Scheelhaase is staying in Los Angeles at least for another year.
"The Browns notified Rams assistant Nate Scheelhaase this AM they were going in a different direction," Fowler reports. "He will stay with the Rams and be a factor next cycle."
With the Browns' job no longer open, only the Las Vegas Raiders and the Arizona Cardinals jobs remain open. Neither team has Scheelhaase as a finalist, which is some great news for the Rams.

While one of those teams, especially the Raiders, could turn around and make a push for the Rams' passing game coordinator, McVay's staff looks mostly safe this offseason.
Mike LaFleur might get hired by the Cardinals, but regarding Scheelhaase and Shula, two young minds who are likely future head coaches, neither is expected to leave this offseason.
The Rams will be getting most of their staff back for 2026, and as long as they find a good special teams coordinator and get Matthew Stafford to return, they should be Super Bowl contenders once again.
