Raiders reveal Brock Bowers' Week 3 status after planned DNP for Friday's practice

The Las Vegas Raiders are 2-0 in the regular season, and they've done so without Brock Bowers, their best pass-catcher on the team.

After missing the first two weeks of the season, Bowers has a chance to suit up in Week 3. But, there's still some doubt about his availability, and Friday's practice certainly didn't help.

Bowers didn't participate in Friday's practice, and according to Sam Warren of The Athletic, this was the plan all along. While Bowers was never going to suit up for Friday's practice, this is still an update worth keeping track of ahead of their Week 3 matchup.

Brock Bowers gets Week 3 update amid planned off day

"Brock Bowers is questionable to play against the Saints this weekend, Klint Kubiak announced," Warren reported. "He said his non-participation was part of the plan today."

After practicing in a limited capacity on Wednesday and Thursday, Bowers didn't participate in practice on Friday, the final practice before their Week 3 matchup.

If this wasn't a planned absence for Bowers, this practice participation would be a clear sign that a player is likely to be ruled out for their next game.

But in Bowers' case, he's questionable for this Week 3 matchup against the 1-1 New Orleans Saints. His status might not be fully known until the Raiders announce their Week 3 inactives.

While Bowers might be trending in the right direction, his status has him seemingly very much up in the air. If Bowers cannot go, Michael Mayer will be the starting tight end for another week, while Tre Tucker, Jack Bech, and Jalen Nailor lead the receiver room.

This Week 3 matchup should be a fun one, and having Bowers back would be a massive boost for the Raiders' offense.

But for now, his status is up in the air, as his DNP at Friday's practice, even though it was planned, is the one thing holding him back from being a near-lock to suit up Sunday.
