The Las Vegas Raiders are 3-3 to begin the 2026 season, which, all things considered, is a solid start for this rebuilding team. However, there is one big issue for the Raiders right now: their running game.
While their run blocking has been suspect, the Raiders also have a problem with star second-year running back Ashton Jeanty through six weeks of the season.
As ESPN's Ryan McFadden highlighted, the Raiders might have a real problem with Jeanty right now. As he put it, after Week 6 against the Buffalo Bills, "the alarm bells around Jeanty have gotten louder."
Raiders might have an Ashton Jeanty problem
"Jeanty's rushing numbers this season have been subpar for a player taken inside the top 10 of last year's draft," McFadden writes. "At this point, the Raiders need to consider increasing Mike Washington Jr.'s workload."
The Raiders invested heavily in Jeanty in the 2025 NFL Draft, taking him inside the top-10 with the hope he'd become a franchise-saving RB like what Bijan Robinson and Jahmyr Gibbs have turned into with their respective franchises.
But after Week 6, the concern for Jeanty cannot keep being ignored. There have been some worries going around for five weeks, but another lackluster performance has put Jeanty on notice.

Jeanty ran the ball 10 times for just 22 yards and a touchdown. Washington, the rookie backup running back, ran the ball nine times for 43 yards, looking a lot more explosive.
This season, Jeanty has 313 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown on 98 attempts, good for 3.19 yards per carry. That's not good enough, especially with Washington at 4.94 yards per carry sitting behind him.
While the Raiders have made it clear they're not going to rest Jeanty for a week in hopes of his ankle injury from the preseason getting better, it should be clear to the Raiders now that they should turn this backfield into more of a split one if Jeanty isn't going to rest.
The concern with Jeanty is real, and if his struggles continue, which they very well might with the Los Angeles Rams next on their schedule, it might be time for a change in the Raiders' backfield.
