Raiders’ Maxx Crosby trade update considered ideal for Cowboys

Reports continue to indicate that the Las Vegas Raiders could move on from edge rusher Maxx Crosby if things go south next season. 

The Raiders are clearly trying to be a better team, as indicated when they went out and signed Kirk Cousins. 

Not allowing Fernando Mendoza to play right away indicates not only that they want him to develop but also that they're looking to win some games early on. 

The Crosby situation is perhaps the most interesting of the bunch, however, as there was already a deal in place to send him to the Baltimore Ravens. The Ravens ended up backing out, but now other teams like the Dallas Cowboys have a chance to trade for him.

Evan Massey recently suggested that, given the latest report, the Cowboys should be viewed as a potential suitor. Mike Florio recently suggested that he could be traded, which led Massey to believe Dallas might have some interest.

“Not necessarily before the season, but once the season starts, if the Raiders struggle. Because they’ve already stretched the rubber band to the point of trading him. And that was at a time when people were concerned about the health of his knee. He’s cleared. 

“He’s back. Now, whether he’s got five more years in that knee is a different issue. But, if they aren’t playing well and they understand that Maxx Crosby isn’t going to be part of the long-term solution and they could get value for him,” Florio said.

The Cowboys have shown over the past few years that they're willing to be aggressive when it matters. Trading for Crosby would be one of the biggest moves that Jerry Jones has made in quite some time, but if the Cowboys are playing good football, it shouldn't be counted out as a potential option.
