Dick Van Dyke is still alive, despite one on-air mix up.

Amid the tragic news of James Van Der Beek’s death at the age of 48, Pussycat Dolls alum Ashley Roberts accidentally announced the Mary Poppins actor had died.

“I do have some sad news,” she said in audio from the Feb. 12 episode of the U.K.-based Breakfast Show radio program, obtained by Daily Mail. “Dawson’s Creek‘s Dick Van Dyke passed away."

However, her cohost Jamie Theakston quickly chimed in to correct her folly.

“Not Dick Van Dyke,” he responded. “Come on, if you’re going to do a sensitive moment, if you’re going to do an obituary, you can’t just say Dick Van Dyke.”

Indeed, Jamie confirmed the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang star, who turned 100 in December, is “very much still with us.”

“He’s 100 years old,” Ashley said. “Oh my gosh, we’ve spoken about this. I’m so sorry.”

In fact, Dick recently shared how vibrant he felt heading into his milestone birthday last year, explaining he feels “like I’m about 13.”

“I feel really good for 100,” Dick told People in an interview published in November. "Sometimes I have more energy than others—but I never wake up in a bad mood.”

Unfortunately, though, the Van Der Beek family announced Feb. 11 that James, who was diagnosed with colorectal cancer in 2023, had died.

"Our beloved James David Van Der Beek passed peacefully this morning," a statement posted to his wife Kimberly Van Der Beek’s Instagram account confirmed. "He met his final days with courage, faith, and grace."

Following the news, many of James’ loved ones grieved the passing of their friend.

"This is a lot to process," his Dawson’s Creek costar Katie Holmes shared on Instagram. "I am so grateful to have shared in a piece of James’ journey. He is beloved."

Their fellow alum Busy Philipps wrote, “My heart is deeply hurting for all of us today. Every person who knew James and loved him, anyone who loved his work or had the pleasure of meeting him, all of his dear friends and community that surrounded him as he battled this illness, especially his parents and brother and sister.”
