Cops now say Puka Nacua’s brother did not steal a car that belonged to a Lakers player.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department told The Post on Thursday that following a probe into allegations that Samson Nacua and Trey Rose took Adou Thiero’s SUV without his permission last month, investigators believe the whole thing was one big misunderstanding.
Samson Nacua took the vehicle while under the impression it belonged to his NFL superstar brother, according to the LASD.
Puka Nacua drives a car with the same model and a very similar color, the LASD added.
The alleged victim did not wish to press charges, according to the LASD, and a case against Samson Nacua and Rose was submitted to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office with the recommendation of no charges.
NBC4 was first to report the news.
Samson Nacua and Rose, both 27 years old, were arrested on Dec. 13 after they had been suspected of stealing Thiero’s ride before taking it to a swanky hotel in West Hollywood.
Samson Nacua played his collegiate football at Utah and BYU, and has logged snaps professionally in the USFL. He also had very brief stints in the NFL with the Colts and Saints.
Thiero, meanwhile, has played in 15 games for the Lakers this season, averaging 1.3 points per contest.
Neither Samson Nacua nor Thiero has publicly commented on the situation.
