Puerto Rico will not only be back in the World Baseball Classic, but they will be hosting one of the pools.
Canada, Colombia, Cuba and Panama will all head to Puerto Rico for their Pool A matchups in San Juan. Team Puerto Rico has represented in every World Baseball Classic so far, and will look to bounce back in 2026 after a sixth-place finish in 2023.
Puerto Rico has finished as the runner-up twice at the World Baseball Classic. In 2013, they beat Japan 3-1 in the semifinals, but lost to the Dominican Republic 3-0. Team Puerto Rico beat the Netherlands 4-3 in the 2017 semifinals, but fell to the United States 8-0 in the championship.
Player insurance has been a hot-button issue, affecting Puerto Rico's roster. Most notably, Francisco Lindor, Carlos Correa and Jose Berrios were not able to be covered by insurance, and none of them will suit up for the WBC this year. The absences made Puerto Rico consider dropping out of the competition, but they elected to stay in with their makeshift roster.
Here's everything you need to know about Puerto Rico's World Baseball Classic roster and all the details for watching every game.
