Nick Schmaltz was involved in some rumors in the lead up to Friday's NHL trade deadline.
Sounds like those rumors will soon die down.
Instead, Schmaltz is looking at a contract extension with the Utah Mammoth.
"I have no guarantee about what's going on here, but a lot of teams seem to think Nick Schmaltz is going to come off the market and re-sign with Utah," Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman said on Saturday Headlines.

Schmaltz, the 30-year old center, has been a catalyst for the Mammoth since their move to Utah.
He was originally the No. 20 overall pick by Chicago in the 2014 NHL Draft.
He played three years with the Blackhawks, then went to Arizona and has remained with this franchise as it transitioned to Utah.
This season, Schmaltz has played in 62 games and has 24 goals and 34 assists (58 points).
Schmaltz is the type of playmaking center you want to keep around and build around, not give up if you don't have to.
He's in the final year of his contract, due to hit unrestricted free agency at the end of the year.
His current deal had an annual average value of $5.85 million. A raise seems likely.
But this report from Friedman suggests that it may happen with Utah before Schmaltz can even hit the open market, which would be great news for the Mammoth.
