LeBron James and Anthony Davis rumored to reunite on surprise team

LeBron James has won a championship with Anthony Davis. He's competed against Steph Curry four times in the NBA Finals.

He could spend the twilight of his career reigniting history.

A new report says the Golden State Warriors are looking to trade for Anthony Davis and sign LeBron James.

Golden State Warriors rumored to trade for Anthony Davis and sign LeBron James

In a report from Kevin O'Connor of Yahoo Sports, Golden State is putting all its chips in on the veteran superstars.

Do they have enough assets to make it work?

First they have to sign AD.

"Sources say the Warriors hope adding Davis would help lure LeBron from Los Angeles to the Bay Area once free agency officially opens on June 30," O'Connor writes.

Golden State would have to flip Jimmy Butler and some combination of first round picks and swaps. Even if they pull it off, Davis is only a year away from potentially being a free agent. He'll want a massive extension but will the Warriors have the money to pay him?

Speaking of money, what does LeBron James, 42, fetch in free agency? The Warriors can't afford to offer a max deal to James, then Davis, and Curry who will each be looking for an extension at the end of the year.

LeBron would likely have to accept the mid-level exception, which would be around $15 million. A far cry from a max deal.

The Warriors can want to make this happen and it also be unlikely.

"But there is real doubt they can pull it off," O'Connor wrote.

Projected starting lineup with LeBron, Steph, AD

PG: Stephen Curry

SG: Brandon Podziemski

SF: LeBron James

PF: Draymond Green

C: Anthony Davis

It's still an intriguing premise to see a team with LeBron, Steph, and AD fully healthy. The trio would compliment each other and bring a wealth of championship experience.

It could seem like an NBA pipe dream but nothing is impossible in this league.
