PSG linked to Bournemouth's French wonderkid after breakout season

Paris Saint-Germain recently made history, as they took down Arsenal in the Champions League final, making them back-to-back winners of the European competition. It made them only the second team to go back-to-back during the Champions League era of the competition, with seven other clubs having done it during the time that it was known as the European Cup.

Along with their continental glory, the Parisians managed to finish on top of Ligue 1 as well as lifting the Trophee des Champions, meaning they managed to complete the treble.

Despite all of this success, it’s apparent that the European champions are keen on bolstering their squad in the coming window to defend their throne, domestically and on the continental front.

The Parisians look to reinforce their attacking department

One area that they’ve been looking to add to is their front line, which has led them to look towards the Premier League for certain talents. According to a recent report by L’Equipe’s Loic Tanzi and Hugo Delom, the Parisians are looking at AFC Bournemouth’s Eli Junior Kroupi for a move in the offseason.

“For the past few weeks, behind the scenes, the Parisian management has been targeting Éli Junior Kroupi,” writes Tanzi and Delom.

The reported interest from the French powerhouse comes after Kruopi made quite the debut in the English top flight, finding the back of the net on 13 different occasions, with one of his more memorable goals coming against Manchester City late in the season. That goal would have major implications on the title race in England between the Cityzens and the aforementioned Gunners.

Given that the French wonderkid has only been at the Vitality Stadium for a single season, Tanzi and Delom report that the Cherries’ sporting director, Tiago Pinto, isn’t all too keen on letting Kroupi go in the summer window.

“Tiago Pinto… has no intention of letting go of his promising young player so quickly and easily,” Delom and Tanzi state.

This hesitation to let Kroupi go back to his home country makes sense on the part of Bournemouth, given that they’re set to make their European debut in the upcoming campaign, after they finished in sixth place in the Premier League.

If the 19-year-old is to return to Ligue 1, he’d be coming back to a league that he has plenty of experience in, having played in 31 games for Lorient, recording eight goal involvements in that time period.
