Proposed Warriors trade sees Golden State deal large Moses Moody-based package for $74 million six-time All-Star, three-time All-NBA forward

The Golden State Warriors are in a bit of pickle at the moment, sitting at 27-23 and the eighth seed in the Western Conference. And with Jimmy Butler out for the season, they need to get another star to keep their window open.

Fansided’s Christopher Kline believes that Golden State should get another veteran All-Star, this time from inside their division. He proposes that the Warriors make a deal with the Sacramento Kings for veteran All-Star DeMar DeRozan.

The trade would look like this:

Warriors get: G/F DeMar DeRozan, F/C Maxime Raynaud

Kings get: G Moses Moody, G Buddy Hield, F/C Al Horford, GSW 2026 first-round pick

“DeMar DeRozan's name has already been connected to Golden State. The Sacramento Kings shouldn't need much to start moving off of their flawed stars. Kuminga's name has been floating around the Kings sphere for years now, but there's a good chance Sacramento — like most teams — would prefer Moses Moody at this point…If Golden State stays the course, the DeRozan and Jimmy Butler partnership, upon the latter's return, could get a bit awkward. Especially if Draymond Green is still mucking up spacing at the four spot. But as a short-term boon for a team with (misguided) postseason aspirations, DeRozan can credibly fill Butler's void as a slasher and mid-range savant with legitimate playmaking chops on the wing,” Kline wrote.

So far this season, DeRozan is averaging 19 points, 3.2 rebounds, 3.9 assists, and 1.3 steals in 33 minutes per game. He would definitely replace Butler, and once Butler returns, either he or DeRozan shift to shooting guard.

This would give the Warriors a very old starting lineup, but full of proven superstars in Stephen Curry, DeRozan, Butler, and Draymond Green. Plus, they’d get an up-and-coming center in Raynaud to fill out the middle.

If the Warriors want to maximize their championship window with their aging core one more time, this is the trade to make.
