Proposed Celtics trade would land $15 million dollar rising star wing from rising West contender

The Boston Celtics have been on a slippery slope recently, winning one game then losing the next. If they want to be repeat champions, they need to shake something up. A proposed trade by Celtics on SI’s Ryan Stano would do just that. In it, the C’s would acquire Houston Rockets star wing Cam Whitmore. The trade would look like this:

Celtics get: Cam Whitmore

Rockets get: Jaden Springer, a 2025 first-rounder, a 2026 second-rounder, and a 2031 second-rounder

This trade works for both the C’s and Whitmore. For the Celtics, they get more wing depth and a great scorer off the bench that can start when needed. As for Whitmore, he will get more playing time to shine in since his current team is filled with young stars that play the same position.

While his minutes will probably be low this year, next year after possible moves in free agency, Whitmore will probably have his breakout year. For $15 million, that would be a steal for the Celtics.

Hopefully Boston realizes that, and gets to negotiations right away. They need to shake things up, so they can get that second NBA Finals trip in two years.
